Countdown to Assessment! 🎶
Today, our MVHS Advanced Band will perform at their most significant adjudication of the semester during the 2026 Virginia Band & Orchestra Director's Association (VBODA) Concert & Sight Reading Assessment.
📍 Location: West Potomac High School
📍 Concert Performance @ 7:30 pm (open to the public)
📍 Sight Reading Performance @ 8:00 pm (closed to the public)
We invite all family, friends, and community members to come out and support our amazing students as they demonstrate their talent, dedication, and hard work. 💙
Volunteer Support Needed
To ensure a safe and successful assessment, we need two (2) additional adult chaperones to accompany the students. (Please email Mr. Bacz - RABacz@fcps.edu if you can chaperone) Bus departs MVHS @ 5:45 pm

Parent involvement is the key ingredient in the success of the MVHS Bands Program!
If your student is part of the Band or Color Guard, you are already a member of the Bands Boosters.
Our monthly meetings are the place to:
Hear the latest updates from the Bands Director and Coaches
Plan and prepare for upcoming events
Coordinate how we can best support our students
By working together, we build on tradition, foster teamwork, and strengthen school and community pride—while laying a strong foundation for our students that lasts for years to come.
🎶 MV Winter Color Guard Competition Update
The MV Winter Color Guard competed at South County High School last Saturday, delivering their best performance yet by increasing their score by 10.34 points and securing 4th place. While there's room for improvement, they consistently enhance their performances and receive praise for their energy and talent. The goal is to become stronger and cleaner, and the team is unstoppable!
This weekend marks an exciting milestone. For the first time since 2013, they will participate in a WGI Regional competition. WGI (Winter Guard International) is a prestigious organization where top color guards compete. Their current circuit, the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA), is an affiliate, so much will be familiar.

🥁 MV Indoor Percussion Competition Update
The MV Indoor Percussion participated in their second AIA competition of the season on Saturday at South County High School.
The team stepped up and demonstrated their place, delivering an impressive performance that secured them 1st place.
MV Indoor Percussion is maintaining their momentum as they gear up for their third competition of the season.
