Congratulations to the following Band students for their amazing concert performance at the 2025 VBODA District X Honor Band:

  • Mary Hammond,

  • Michaela Dresch,

  • Molly Lussier,

  • Baraka Matowo, and

  • Edwin Castellon Rodriguez

Special congratulations to Mary Hammond for qualifying to audition for the 2025 VBODA All-State Bands, thanks to her high seat placement at the District Band this past weekend. It's been a long time since a student from our school has qualified.

The MV Winter Color Guard participated in their initial AIA competition of the year two Saturdays ago at Forest Park High School. This marked their debut in the A2 division, and they demonstrated their worthiness. They secured 2nd place out of five teams with their performance, "There's No Way Home".

Last Saturday, they participated in their second AIA competition of the year at Tuscarora High School. With focus and hard work, they achieved another 2nd place finish out of six teams! Both the judges and the audience loved our show and our spooky little creatures.

Congratulation Majors, we are proud of you!!!

Upcoming - MVHS Indoor Home Show - AIA Color Guard/Percussion/Winds Competition

Our 11th AIA Indoor Guard & Percussion Competition will take place on Saturday, March 22nd at the Mount Vernon High School Field House. This event provides a fantastic opportunity for our Winter Color Guard unit to demonstrate their dedication and effort. It is also crucial for our program and school, as the success of our show directly impacts our profits.

We are expecting 70 teams to participate, requiring volunteers for nearly 400 roles across 9 shifts and various workstations. We encourage ALL students and 1 parent/guardian to volunteer and support this event.

Ready to claim your station, scan the qr code above or click here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0E4AAAAD29AAF49-54432364-parent#/

NOTE: The above signup genius is for adults (18yrs and older only). A student signup genius will be shared at a later date.

There are 3 jobs that involve shifts that are not typical: Tabulation, Hospitality, and Shuttle.

Tabulation must be the same person for the type of groups (ie 1 parent for percussion in the morning, 1 parent for guards in the afternoon/evening). Minimal computer skills are needed for this slot.

Hospitality would be 1-2 adults who can prepare and maintain food for the judges and directors throughout the show. There will be many minutes of down time as the judges will be busy with the performances.

Shuttle Transportation is To Be Determined - we will not know need until early March (if all judges drive themselves, then there will not be a need).

That's it for now; visit here frequently for updates and information. Feel free to share with other Band Parents.

Your help is essential, and we cannot thank you enough for your time.

Please email volunteer.mvhsbb@gmail.com , if you would like more information.
