Welcome New & Returning Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

We hope this message finds you well and that your students had a smooth first week of school.

Band Camp was a great success. Our marchers faced numerous challenges, yet they persevered. They shared many laughs and created lasting memories. We are eager to see how this season develops! To complete the circle, we will be introducing the 2025 Section Leaders, putting faces to the voices or names your marchers have mentioned.

First up is this season's Drum Major - Nathan Avila Flores

This blog will contain a lot of information about our upcoming season. Below is a recap of last week's well-attended Boosters meeting. During the meeting, we discussed volunteer opportunities and the new approach to staffing this year's Concession Stand. Each section (Color Guard, Low & High Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion/Drumline) will be scheduled for specific concession dates , all supplies and funds will be provided. The dates and scheduled sections are provided. Our Band has a big heart, and our volunteers ensure it runs smoothly.

We are excited to see you!! Click HERE to access Sign-Up Genius.

The first group to staff the Concession Stand at Tuesday's Field Hockey Game is the Pit/Drumline.

Our next topic of discussion was TAG Day, the largest Band fundraiser of the year, scheduled for Saturday, September 13th.  We require the participation of all parents and students to ensure success. For newcomers to the program and those seeking additional information:

 What is TAG Day?

TAG Day is a fundraising activity used by most VA schools. Our MVHS community anticipates the “Door Knock” in early September. Students wear their marching uniforms (details will be provided closer to the date) and visit local Mount Vernon neighborhoods to request TAX DEDUCTIBLE donations to support the band program. The generosity of the MVHS community in past years enabled us to replace our ATV (used for transporting field show equipment to every performance) and acquire new uniforms. This year's funds will be allocated to:  Purchasing musical instruments, field show props, and equipment. *Supporting our Winter Guard program. We also plan to buy a trailer soon to avoid renting for instrument transport.

How can I help?

Do you have a car that can comfortably fit 4 people?

If so, becoming a TAG Day Driver is perfect for you!

We need 35 Drivers. Click HERE to sign up on Sign-Up Genius.
